CONSULTATION ON PROPOSED GOODS CLEARANCE FEE INCREASES

New Zealand Customs' goods clearance fees for importers and exporters will increase from 1 July 2008.

For exporters, the fee for Secure Export Scheme (SES) members will increase from $4.00 to $10.00 per cargo entry, and the fee for non-SES members will increase from $5.75 to $14.25 per cargo entry.  The Outward Cargo Transaction Fees for sea and air will increase from $11.25 to $22.50 and $3.75 to $7.50 per cargo entry, respectively.

For importers, the Import Entry Transaction Fee is increasing from $22.00 to $24.75 per cargo entry.  Two import fees remain unchanged - the Inward Cargo Transaction Fees for sea and air remain at $352.00 and $30.00 per transaction respectively.

Customs is now embarking on consultation and communication about the regulations that will provide for these fee increases.  To view the consultation document, which was posted to industry groups on Friday 8th February, go to www.customs.govt.nz/about/news.
