Exporting Boats

  1. Services Available
    • LOLO (Lift on / Lift off) – Break Bulk, Container lines.
      • ExportBoatBoats are lifted from either water or wharf on and off the vessel.
    • RORO (Roll on / Roll off)
      • Boats on trailer are simply towed on and off and smaller boats on cradles are either fork hoisted on and off or towed on and off on shipping line provided trailer (mafi).
    • FOFO (Float on / Float off)
      • Boats motored on and off semi-submerged vessel.
    • Flat Racks
      • Boats lashed to shipping line provided 40ft or 20ft Flat Rack and then presented to the wharf. On arrival removed from wharf and unloaded.
  1. Cradles / Shrink Wrapping / Lashings
    • Rented – we have a supply of cradles in most main areas that can be rented if suitable.
    • Purchased – we can have cradles designed and built in all areas we load from.
    • Shrink Wrapping is recommended where possible and we can quote for this.
    • We can arrange for the lashings to be provided subject to what is required.
  1. Size
    • Reducing length / height can save lots of dollars so always consider this.
  1. NZ Export Formalities
    • Copy of Bill of Sale / Valuation is required in order for an Export Entry to be completed.
    • If you do not have an NZ Customs Client Code we can assist in getting one for you.
  1. Delivery to the port
    • We can organise delivery of your boat by road to the port
    • If loading from the water we can organise for the cradle to be delivered to the port.
  1. Marine Survey
    • Most insurance companies will require a load survey to be done.
    • We can arrange this for you inclusive of:
      • Lashing Plan
      • Attendance at loading
  1. Attendance
    • Oceanbridge Shipping will have someone in attendance at the time of loading to ensure your boat is handled correctly.
  1. Quoting
    • Ball Park
      • We can offer an indication and if this is within budget we can then give a detailed quote.
    • Detailed Quote
      • This would include all origin (cradle, surveys, insurance, handling and documentation) costs, freight (inclusive fuel surcharges) and destination (Customs, Quarantine indication, onward transport and removal of cradle costs). 
    • Not included?
      • Taxes and quarantine related additionals.
  1. Pre-shipment Check list
    • Papers
      • We will need a copy of the Bill of Sale.
      • Original ownership papers maybe required from the country of export.
    • Clean and secure inside and out
      • Batteries should be disconnected and wires secured, fuel tanks no more than ¼ full, bilges must be clear of water. Secure all doors and hatches. Try and get the boat as clean as possible inside and out.
    • Insurance
      • The boat must be insured and we can organise this for you if required.
    • AUSTRALIA
      • If exporting to Australia the following should be noted:
        1. Any trailers need to have a permit in place PRIOR TO LOADING IN NEW ZEALAND.
        2. Any CFC gas (fridges / aircon) needs to be removed from the system unless a permit is held by the importer.
